WebProWorld Members,

It is almost the end of the week and there really isn't much going on in the news scene today.

So, instead I will just share this cute video with you!

The kid you see on your right side was cracking me up with his dance moves! I love videos like that one.

If you have any fun, interesting, or weird videos you have seen on the internet lately, feel free to send them my way.

Then I will share them with everyone! :)

Is SEO Really Necessary?

Is SEO Really Necessary?
I read an article discussing marketing and what works and what doesn't. I didn't keep the link unfortunately. Maybe somebody else saw this one.

Basically the question was put to some of the top marketing people in the world what works and doesn't on the internet. SEO was called a scam and self-defeating. Their point was that the old fashioned ways are still the best, build relationships with your potential customers. Blogs where you actually give meaningful content and respond to comments by readers was their number 1 way to bring in customers on the internet.

Would a SE penalise you for knowing how to optimise a site?

A strange question, so let me try and explain.

We have a client who's site uses a lot of white-hat techniques for optimisation. It's getting to the point where these techniques are being used to their limit, so far that sometimes we review the SEO techniques for a page and decide there is too much, and it would be better with less. We have more advanced techniques like URL rewriting, emphasising certain pages, using the canonical tag everywhere (sometimes even when it is not necessarily accurate). I suppose we may be verging into grey-hat sometimes as what we're doing is often down to debate, not fact. Whether this is right or wrong doesn't mater. Our client is very well versed on SEO and asks us for advice, then instructs us on what to implement.

Which Business Model Behind Generic Domain Name?

Hi, let`s say you just bought new-site.be and you also own old-site.com which is a portal that attracks about 500 visitors/day.

Now, you want to monetize new-site.be

Of course you can use the 500 visitors/day coming from old-site.com, either by 301 redirect or by advertising on the site itself.

Now, what is the best businessmodel to use for new-site.be,

keeping in mind that you want something simple, clear on few headaches.

Criticism Continues to Build against the Protect IP Act

Opposition appears to be growing against the Protect IP Act, which was introduced by Senator Patrick Leahy earlier this year. The bill that is officially called the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011 hopes to reduce content piracy.
