WebProWorld Members,

Friday Friday!

Of course I am ready for the weekend.

Going to relax and a restaurant by the river tonight with family.

And tomorrow, hopefully the rain will hold off and I will be able to go to the lake!

It always seems the summer goes by way too fast while winter lasts forever!

Hope you guys have had a wonderful week and have an even better weekend! :)

Our situation:

We consider ourselves legit marketers, as "white hat" as you can get while also actually achieving anything for our clients (which is as far as I can tell, the fundamental problem to search marketing). We achieve a lot with advanced on-site optimization and we also pride ourselves on the quality of links we develop through creative techniques based on the old mantra, creating great content with the audience in mind.

Overall we get great results. The problem is, that only gets you so far. We're still coming up against a small number of very stubborn, high competition keywords that we have problems achieving top rankings for.

Do Old Marketing Tricks Last Forever?

I get a lot of emails these days for web-marketing tools and SEO coaching programs. I get these emails because I usually ask for them -- just so I can see how other web marketers build a campaign. The thing that puzzles me about these promotions is the old and antiquated sales pitches they use ---like "only 300 memberships available" or "this offer ends at midnight" or "buy now and get the super bonus--a special gift from us to you." Plus, I notice that most marketers still use the ".95" to make prices curiously appear one dollar less.

I guess I can understand these kinds of rabbit tricks working very well back in the early days of mass marketing, when unsuspecting consumers of the new middle class had no idea what was about to hit them. But what about consumers in 2011? Apparently the old tricks work just as well today as they did in 1955.

Criticism Continues to Build against the Protect IP Act

Opposition appears to be growing against the Protect IP Act, which was introduced by Senator Patrick Leahy earlier this year. The bill that is officially called the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011 hopes to reduce content piracy.
